Welcome to Kindergarten at Turner Elementary

Kindergarten students attend school all day, from 7:50 am - 2:20 pm, Monday through Friday. School doors open at 7:30 am for breakfast or students can play on the playground until classrooms open at 7:40 am.

Generally, children must be five years of age on or before September 1 in order to register for kindergarten. Parents/Guardians who are interested in early entrance to kindergarten should note the new policy set by the Cascade School Board in February of 2023. The process must begin by notifying the Director of Special Programs by June 16, and then providing results of a private evaluation of key areas.

Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year is open.

  1. Please complete the 23/24 Turner Pre-Registration form for each new student. Completing the pre-registration form is only the first part of the registration process.

  2. Once you complete this form the school will be able to get you a username and password for our Parent Portal so you can complete the online registration forms for your student

In addition to completing the online registration forms, school staff must verify documents pertaining to new students prior to a student starting school. Please provide the school with the following for you new student:

  • Proof of Age: This can be from an original  birth certificate (preferred) or hospital record.
  • Proof of Residency: A recent utility bill with a parent/guardian's name & address.

Soft Start
Kindergarten students will only come to school ONE day the first week of the 23/24 school year. On that one school day, teachers and staff will get to know each child's motor, literacy, math, and expressive skills. Kindergartners will have the opportunity to learn about the school and important routines in a small group.

Soft start days will be Tuesday, Sept. 5th,  Wednesday, Sept. 6th, or Thursday, Sept. 7th. There will be no school for kindergarten students on Friday, Sept. 8th. Kindergarten teachers will reach out to families on  Friday, Sept. 8th to let you know which class your child should report to on Monday, Sept. 11th for their official first day of kindergarten. Sign-ups for choosing a soft start day will go out to families in mid/late August.

For more information about the school year, please see our school calendar.
