Lisa Iverson Named New Turner Elementary Principal
Cascade School District Superintendent Darin Drill announced today that Lisa Iverson will be the new principal at Turner Elementary.

“We are thrilled to have Lisa [Iverson] serve as the next principal at Turner,” said Cascade School District Superintendent Darin Drill. “Her resume speaks for itself. She is willing to think outside the box and do what’s best for kids while serving families. She is deeply committed to every student in the district.”

Iverson currently serves as the Cascade High School Assistant Principal, Success Director, CTE Director, and Community and Career Coordinator. She has worked as an administrator at Cascade High School since 2018.

Iverson manages the High School Success funds which have brought programs to the district like Outside Cascade, the Career Fair, Cabin Fever, and the Harvest Gatherings. She has also used the funds to enhance Cascade’s CTE programs.

Iverson started at the Cascade School District in 1999 as a junior and senior high school social studies teacher. She was the Oregon Council Social Studies Educator of the Year in 2009.

Iverson was awarded Fulbright scholarships to study and develop K-12 curriculum in Japan and New Zealand. She has earned scholarships and grants to study and develop curriculum in Saudi Arabia, Uganda, and Germany. She has been a yearly presenter of effective K-12 teaching strategies at the World Affairs Council.

Iverson replaces Dan Petersen who retires in July. Petersen has been the principal at Turner Elementary since 2008. He was a teacher at Aumsville Elementary from 1988-1999 and at Cascade Junior High from 1999-2008.

Iverson starts her role as Turner Elementary Principal on August 1.

“I am so excited to work with the kids, staff, parents, and community of Turner Elementary,” added Iverson. “My deep respect and love for Turner, and the culture cultivated by Dan Petersen is something I am honored to be part of and will work hard to develop partnerships with the staff and community to ensure our kids are empowered through their education and enriched through experiences. I will always do what is best for our kids!”
