Principal’s Message

Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,

Turner Elementary creates a welcoming environment where kids and families thrive. We believe that by creating a safe, joyful atmosphere, kids will want to come to school and feel the love of learning. For a child to succeed, they must belong and feel part of something bigger than themselves. This is what our school seeks to provide. We desire to embrace and fulfill the needs of every student who enters our school; and believe each contributes greatly to the overall health of Turner. We believe every child possesses incredible potential to grow as learners who contribute to their community.

Turner Elementary is committed to ensuring the needs of the whole child are addressed through strong socio-emotional support structures, rigorous academic standards, a research-based experiential education component, family engagement, and strong community support. Critical thinking, problem solving, and a strong foundation of curricular knowledge provide an education capable of navigating the middle school years and beyond. The most effective educational strategies are provided through frequent research and AVID training, focusing on best practices. Interventions are offered in both literacy and math so the needs of all learners are met. Critical thinking and project based learning spark student interest and lead to increased engagement. We love what we do, and it shows!

Warm regards,
Lisa Iverson
